I've just read that someone who wrote a review on November 3 said that his 970XT would not mate with a 1.25 hitch receiver. Mine was shipped on October 29 and it perfectly matches my 1.25 receiver. I think that this product is terrific. It's not as light weight as the advertisements suggest but then again I've just had my 68th birthday. It looks great and performs flawlessly. In addition, the pin that the ads show that is used to lock the carrier arm in the down position has been replaced with the same type latch that is used to tilt the main assembly away from the car. This is a definite upgrade. All in all, this is a "10". Oh and by the way, when you remove the carrier from the car, the pin that locks the carrier into the receiver is a little difficult to remove until you jiggle the carrier back and forth.

When we received our new Helium two-bike carrier almost a month ago, I found it very simple to follow the assembly instructions and was able put it together in no time. I am a female who is five feet tall, and although the carrier is not "light as a feather," I find it very easy to lift and hold as I attach it to or remove it from my Ford Explorer receiver hitch.

The cradles and anti-sway cage hold my husband's cruiser bike very well, and we are able to position my women's cruiser in the cradles at an angle [my bike lies on the rack diagonally with the back wheel in the air above my husband's bike] without having to purchase and use the Thule Frame Adapter (saving us $35). We love the fact that we can lock the carrier to my truck's receiver hitch, making it very stable for mounting our bikes. The Helium carrier also has a built-in cable lock that allows us to secure our bikes to the carrier itself. For additional stability, Thule provides a heavy-duty ten-foot strap that has a metal cam-lock buckle. We run the strap around the frames of both bikes and around the carrier post which keeps the bikes from moving and thus banging into each other while on the road.

As an added note, we really like the tilt feature that allows us to open my full-size Explorer hatch door without having to remove the carrier. However, we do remove the bikes before tilting the carrier down.

All in all, we really love our new Helium two-bike carrier and would recommend it to anyone who wants to go biking outside of their own neighborhood!

I use this rack on a Toyoda Highlander and purchased for the rack from HumblePower for a little over $240. The rack is light and clean looking. The aluminum will not corrode and is stiff enough to service two bikes for the 20 plus years I plan on using this rack. The rack is easily moved when it is stored in the back of the Highlander. The Helium works as advertised, could not be happier.
